The average deal size has hovered around US $600,000 since 2015. The average size of seed and incubator deals decreased in 2017 for the first time since 2014. The average deal size of early-stage deals was US $836,000 in 2017, a 22 percent decrease from the 2013 average of US $1.075 million. The sharp drop in growth and expansion deals after 2015 may be due to the increasing size of these deals surpassing the US $2 million cutoff.
