Funding for SMEs consistently represents a minimal percentage of all donor funding for Brazil

In Brazil, SME-related donor disbursements make up a very small percentage of total donor funding. Total donor funding to Brazil has consistently declined since 2012, and SME-related funding was only US $2 million in 2016.

In 2015, the percentage of donor funding allocated to Brazil spiked at 4.4 percent, driven entirely by a EUR 150 million loan from the European Investment Bank to Banco Santander Brasil for on-lending to private small and medium enterprises and midcap companies in Brazil. This disbursement was 97 percent of all SME-related projects allocated to Brazil in 2015.
