Capacity Development: East Africa

In East Africa, most capacity development providers are sector agnostic and focus on mentoring, talent placement, and network-based support

Of the 70 capacity development providers in this sample, 76 percent operate in Kenya, followed by Uganda (34 percent), and Tanzania (27 percent). Roughly half of these capacity development providers support start-ups and SMEs in East Africa through mentoring, talent placement, network-based services, training and other classroom-based support, partnership brokering, and one-to-one advisor support.

GALI has identified 16 accelerators headquartered in East Africa, 2 in Ethiopia, 9 in Kenya, 1 in Rwanda, and 4 in Uganda.
